ORIGINAL STORY
Amanda contacted the Long Lost Families office on Saturday using the template on the website. She was adopted in the seventies aged 3 and was desperate to find her biological family. Amanda was keen to tell us she had an amazing upbringing with her adopted mum and dad. She lived life to the full and was given great support and opportunities by them which eventually led to her representing Great Britain in the sports world.
Amanda gave us names and information for us to start. It was out of office hours but I divided the work up between researchers and they agreed to pitch in and start the search immediately. By the next day I was talking to her father who had also been searching for many years and we were able to pass on the good news to her that we had found her long lost family after such a long time. Her comments were “I thought it might take years”. I am pleased to say they are meeting next Saturday, a week later, for the first time in almost 50 years. Her mother and three siblings were also located and she will be meeting these as well very soon.
UPDATE
With great pleasure I can now reveal, that only a week after filling in and sending Long Lost Families her story on the website template, Amanda and her father Martin met yesterday in his hometown. They spent half a day together sharing stories about their life and the circumstances about her adoption.
Martin told me. “Amanda has just left to go and tell her adopted mum all the good news. We got on like a house on fire from the start. Its as if we had always known each other. The bond was there straight away. She got along with my wife very well and we are arranging another meet up soon with all the family. I couldn’t be happier”
Amanda told me “The meeting was everything I hoped it would be. We share so many similarities and habits despite being apart for so long. We walked on the beach sharing stories about our lives. I havn’t slept well for years but last night was the best sleep I’ve had in my life. Such pleasant dreams. I can’t wait to meet the rest of my family”
When Martin told his eldest daughter they had met up she burst into tears of joy. She had been looking for her for two years. Amanda will be meeting her soon when they all get together with her and her adoptive mum who lives close by.
This is what drives us. Bringing happiness and contentment and filling that void in someones life. Changing peoples lives for the good.
